Dinnertime Monday night was wonderful! It was necessary that the campers build up their energy before the big night ahead. After dinner, campers and counselors split into Color War teams and headed to the Great Meadows Soccer Field for Star Wars, a strategic game of dodge ball mixed with freeze tag. People were bobbing and weaving as each team tried to eliminate the other team’s Darth Vader. The Yellow team conquered all for a first place victory! The team scored two points toward their color war team’s total. It was a blast! Everyone then hurried back to their cabins knowing that whoever won the Monday Spirit Stick would find it hidden in their bunk! It was awarded to the men of Maryland! You could hear the men of Maryland all over Fort Jackson when they returned to find the coveted Spirit Stick hidden in their cabin! Way to go! Afterward, everyone anxiously awaited a visit from the Ice Cream Man. Campers heard the ice cream truck music and flooded the courtyard! Next, the entire camp lined up to play some All-Camp knock out! It was a long and fun game and at the end Teddy Jones seized the victory! It was an exciting evening that wrapped up with the Closing of the Gates Ceremony. Lights then went out and an adventurous day was completed at Camp Winnamocka!
Campers and counselors woke up at Camp Winnamocka to a beautiful Tuesday! Spirits were high as everyone got up and about, cleaning their cabins for the Bunky Award, and Mocks headed off to the Wilderness Lodge to help the Kitchimockas set the tables for breakfast. The Kitchimockas outdid themselves preparing golden brown pancakes topped with butter and syrup with some bacon and sausage on the side. Once the campers finished their breakfast, the cabins left the Lodge to enjoy morning outdoor activities. Plong joined the ladies of Massachusetts for a thrilling cargo net climb and then shortly after they cooled off in the pool! Virginia Massachusetts then made their way to Big Daddy’s Blob to do some blobbing and they also partied on the Party Pads! The ladies of Virginia went to go build their guns after breakfast and then joined the ladies from Massachusetts at the blob! The gentleman from New Hampshire took a dip in the Bermuda Triangle after breakfast and then tackled the Treetop Challenge. They loved the zipline so much! The ladies from Kentucky started their day off right, at Tom’s swimming hole! After their fun at Tom’s, the girls headed to the Rock Wall and Bouldering Wall to do some climbing. The ladies from Tennessee tagged along with Kentucky at Tom’s and then left to go do some gun building at Fort Crown Point. Those are some good looking guns girls! The men from Delaware tackled the Treetop Challenge right after breakfast and then relaxed and swam in the Bermuda Triangle afterwords. They had an intense game of knock-out! The gentleman from Connecticut, after filling their stomachs, went to go challenge their minds by doing some Low Ropes. Afterword’s they took to the lake and had a Funyak Adventure in Lake Adirondack! The girls from Carolina did some climbing at the Rock & Bouldering Wall and then jumped in Bear Paw Lake to play on the elements at Tom’s Swimming Hole! They had a blast! The oldest ladies from New York went to go build some good looking guns and then went to go slide at the G-Slide! The men from Maryland did some sliding at the G-slide and then went to go buy some nice things at the camp store. Right after that they had a surprise visit from Uncle Sam and then did some Low Ropes! And to round out the morning activities, the men from Rhode Island did some swimming at Bermuda and then took the sky and did the Flying Wombat.
After morning activities, everyone headed to the Wilderness Lodge for lunch. The Kitchimockas served up delicious cheeseburgers with campers’ choice of lettuce, tomato, pickles, and onions on top along with French fries, baked beans and salad on the side. During lunch the campers had a visit from the Bunky Men’s Wrestling Team who announced that New York and Massachusetts were the Bunky Award winners again today! Good job keeping your cabins clean gals! After the campers filled their bellies, they were able to enjoy the activity club of their choice. The karate, courtyard games, and fans club were very popular, and some major planning was headed up by the Theme Dance Club who worked vigorously to make plans for this week’s theme dance – “Medieval Times.” The Art Club continued working on their swords and shields.
After activity time, the men from Plong and New Hampshire played at Tom’s swimming hole. Both cabins went to the store and after when the men from New Hampshire went to go build some guns, the men from Plong went on a Rainbow Hawk hunt! The little ladies from Virginia did some Teambuilding at low ropes and then met the ladies from Massachusetts at the G-Slide. Before the slide, Massachusetts build their guns at Fort Crown Point! The men from Delaware did a little shopping at the store and then did some sliding at the G-Slide. After they had their fun there they challenged their minds at Low Ropes. The men from Maryland met the guys from Connecticut at Tom’s after they took a go at the flying Wombat. Fly high guys! The ladies from Kentucky took a dip in the Bermuda triangle after lunch and then headed to the woods for some Low Ropes! The ladies from Tennessee killed it at the Treetop Challenge and after they did some much deserved blobbing. After lunch, the ladies from Carolina did some blobbing at Big Daddy’s blob and then went to go build guns at Fort Crown Point! The oldest guys from Rhode Island did some gun building at Fort Crown Point directly after activity time and then challenged their selves at the Treetop Challenge! And finally, to finish off the afternoon, the ladies from New York did some Low Ropes and then learned how to shoot a bow and arrow during Archery with Jordan. These girls are just like Katniss!
Following afternoon fun, everyone headed back to Fort Jackson for some courtyard chatting and trading company shopping. Tonight campers will get down and boogey as they round up for the BBQ and Western Dance! Yee-Haw!
