Wednesday night ended with lots of excitement! The evening was packed full of talent at the Talent Show! Before dinner, Post Master Peter arrived in the courtyard of Fort Jackson to hand out letters and packages of goodies! After dinner, the Talent Show started with a bang! Niki was interrupted by the two MC’s: Soul Sister and her brother! They own a 70’s talent agency, groovy baby! Virginia and PLong each preformed a little dance, Massachusetts sung a little song about a barber shop, New Hampshire told the story of the Cheerio people, Kentucky danced the night away, Delaware sung a song, Tennessee got the audience involved in a little stretching exercise, Connecticut lip syncing the Candy Shop song, Carolina got the audience involved by asking them to help solve the case of the missing Brewster, Maryland preformed the hilarious dance scene from Napoleon Dynamite, and New York rapped three songs and combined them into one! Individual performances included Reece dancing, Mallory doing a little jibe, Jack dancing like the penguins from happy feet, Kase doing the splits, and Triston showing off some of his Karate moves! Our counselors put on a crowd pleasing lip sync battle between the twins JM and Roberto. Today’s spirit stick was awarded to the men from Maryland! And the talent show winner was New York! It was a grand show! The night ended with the older cabins taking on their 007 missions. Team LAMS— Jacob Chaison, Gabe Hohensee and Whitman Rowland!—completed the mission and saved Camp Winnamocka! The other cabins were enjoying a secret game of 006!
Drowsy Thursday morning – everyone got to sleep in one hour later but excitedly awoke remembering today was COLOR WARS! As everyone got up and about, campers and counselors split into their color war teams and headed to breakfast. The Kitchimockas had a hearty meal consisting of homemade pancakes, French toast, bacon, sausage, and fresh fruit for the campers. Once everyone built up their energy supply, teams met at the Giant Tiki Treehouse at old Winnamocka (as it’s now called). Whole teams competed in fun games such as canoe races in the Jungle Lagoon, kickball with extra-bouncy balls, wiffleball, and fill the bucket water train. Everyone proceeded back to the lodge to finish off the morning with ships ‘n sailors and some tricky Winnamocka quiz bowl.
After some heated funny competitions, all the teams lined up for some grilled chicken sandwiches complete with lettuce, tomato, and cheese with French fries on the side, yum!
After lunch, the counselors competed in a counselor Quiz Bowl competition of their own. Afterward, everyone moved outdoors to the most exciting event, the All Camp Relay, in which the winning team only won by a hair! Wow! It was close. Then it was on to the pool for some fun and games that included water knock-out, dibble dabble, money dive, and water volleyball. There was also time for free swimming and cooling off!
This evening brings a delivery of hot fresh pizzas – over 50 of them! After supper, campers will prepare for the “Medieval Times” Theme Dance. Campers and Counselors will dress themselves to look like they are from the days of the past! Also, everyone will eagerly wait to hear the results of the Color War Competition! We’ll just have to wait and see who the lucky team will be. Akcomanniway!
