Howdy! Last night was the boot stompin’ Western Dance and BBQ! The Kitchimockas served up smoked brisket, BBQ chicken legs, baked beans, cole slaw, and bread. Boy, was it a hit! At the BBQ there was card playin’ and target shootin’ in the lower room, while some chose to dance or visit on the decks of the Wilderness Lodge. Everyone had an exciting time doing a little line dancin’ and two steppin’. Of course, the dance ended with no better song than Travis Tritt’s “Great Day To Be Alive”! Just before the night ended with the Closing of the Gates, the ladies of Carolina were announced as Tuesday’s Spirit Stick winners! They will also receive one point toward the Survivor Challenge. After the Closing of the Gates, lights were out but not before a few notes were written and delivered.
Wednesday morning – Rise and Shine! What a great day to be at camp! It’s a beautiful morning, today is going to be GREAT! All cabins got their cleaning done in order to win the Bunky Award. Mocks were sent to set tables and everyone headed to the Lodge for a home-style breakfast of scrambled cheesy eggs, sausage, bacon, fruit, and homemade biscuits and gravy. After breakfast, everyone headed to their first activity of the day.
The girls started their day off right by all heading to Fort Crown Point for the practice war! All the girls divided into separate groups and learned many methods that would help them win the war on Friday! The stations were led by the oldest gals, the ladies of New York. Way to step up girls. After the Practice war they all went to their own individual cabin activities. Virginia enjoyed a Zipline Adventure with their good friend Dex, Mass took a dip in the Bermuda Triangle, Kentucky flew high on the blob, Tennessee took to the trails and embarked on a tour of Old Winnamocka where they visited places like the Tiki House and the Ancient Temple, Carolina did some sliding on the G-Slide and New York climbed the Power Pole with help from their good friend Niki J.
As for the boys, their morning was packed with tons of activities. Plong started it off with a Zipline Adventure. The cabins New Hampshire and Delaware met at the great Meadows to play some field games and afterwards joined the dudes from Plong for a Pirate Ship Battle at Sea! It was a very intense battle! The men from Connecticut started their day off by doing some sliding down the G-Slide. They didn’t stay very long as they had to hurry back to the fort to prepare for their Pirate Ship battle with Maryland! Maryland hung out at Tom’s for a bit and then joined the men from Connecticut. They had a blast preparing for the war as they were accompanied by some hilarious Pirates! After preparation, they divided into teams and began the war. After the final sweep each boat member yelled “Mutiny” and it was brother against brother on each ship. The kids loved it! And finally, the men from RIC started their day off with a funyak adventure in Adirondack where they attempted an Aqua attack on the girls practice war. After that they took to the Rock and Bouldering wall and did some climbing.
By lunchtime, everyone had worked up their hearty appetites and was ready for the Kitchimocka’s homemade spaghetti and meatballs, home-style green beans, and fresh salad. Thank you, Kitchimockas! After filling their bellies, the boys from Plong did some more blobbing at Big Daddy’s blob and then practiced for the talent show! The ladies from Mass, Virginia, and Tennessee all met in the courtyard to prepare for a Battle at Sea! Mass and Virginia VS. Tennessee! They were accompanied by some goofy looking pirates who helped hype up the battle. This battle was one for the books! After three sweeps it finally came to a close with each respective boat yelling “Mutiny!” and turning on each other. The girls got soaked! After the battle, the girls from Virginia cooled off even more in Bermuda, the girls from Mass practiced for the talent show and Tennessee hung out with New York at Tom’s swimming hole! While the battles were going on, the ladies from Kentucky were busy sliding on the G-slide. They were having a blast, and after went to go practice their talent show! The men from New Hampshire tackled the Rock and Bouldering walls and then joined the men from Delaware at Tom’s! The men from Connecticut hung out and practiced their Talent show and then did some blobbing at big daddy’s blob! The ladies from Carolina were up in the trees the entire afternoon, completing both the Power Pole and the Treetop Challenge and the girls New York also completed the Treetop challenge and then took a nice little dip in Tom’s swimming hole! The men from Maryland embarked on a Funyak adventure in Adirondack and spectated the adjacent Pirate battle going on close by and the men for Rhode Island tackled the Giant Ladder! At 3:15 every single guy cabin met at the Fort for a practice war! Those guys got right into scrimmages off the bat. There were many battles including the always fun Counselor VS. Camper war. The campers won!
This evening everyone will show us what talents they have at the Talent Show where the bunky winners Maryland and Tennessee will be announced! Later tonight are the ever so popular “Night Games”— 006 & 007! How exciting! We’ll see you tomorrow, and Akcomanniway, goodnight!
