Last night was the boot stompin’ Western Dance and BBQ! The Kitchimockas served up smoked brisket, BBQ chicken legs, baked beans, cole slaw, and potato salad. There were even homemade cinnamon rolls for dessert! Boy, was it a hit! At the BBQ there was even a scavenger hunt hayride! Everyone had an exciting time doing a little line dancin’ and two steppin’. Of course, the dance ended with no better song than Travis Tritt’s “Great Day to Be Alive”! At the end of the dance, it was announced New Hampshire, Carolina, and Virginia were the spirit stick winners of the day! After the Closing of the Gates, lights were out but not before a few notes were written and delivered.
Wednesday morning – Rise and Shine! What a great day to be at camp! It’s a beautiful morning, today is going to be GREAT! All cabins got their cleaning done in order to win the Bunky Award. Everyone headed to the Lodge for a delicious breakfast of scrambled cheesy eggs, sausage, bacon, fruit, and homemade biscuits and gravy. After breakfast, everyone headed to their first activity of the day.
We kicked off the Golden Gun Competition this morning. The bracket and trophy were presented this morning. The first quarter-final matchup was between the ladies from Rhode Island and Delaware. After a fierce battle, the girls from Rhode Island came out victorious and advanced to the next round. The ladies from Carolina and Massachusetts then battled and Massachusetts reigned victorious. Massachusetts and Rhode Island then battled it out and Rhode Island claimed victory and went on to the semifinals. Kentucky and Virginia got to skip the first round and battled each other for a spot in the semifinals. Virginia claimed victory and landed a spot in the semifinals. Virginia and Rhode Island battled it out in the semifinals and Rhode Island came out as the winner! They will battle in the finals on Friday. After their battles, Delaware headed to conquer the rock wall while Rhode Island and Carolina headed to the Bermuda Triangle Pool. Virginia headed to the Gslide and Massachusetts went to fly on Big Daddy’s Blob where they were joined by New Hampshire. Before joining Massachusetts, New Hampshire started their morning with a relaxing Funyak Adventure. Maryland started the day at the Gslide before heading to Tom’s Swimmin’ Hole. New York’s day began with a game of pickup game of basketball on the blacktop before heading in the sky on the Treetop Challenge. Connecticut and Pennsylvania started the day at Big Daddy’s Blob before heading together to low ropes for bonding and team building skills. Tennessee’s morning started at the Bermuda Triangle Pool before heading to low ropes for cabin bonding and team building.
By lunchtime, everyone had worked up their hearty appetites and was ready for the Kitchimocka’s homemade lasagna, home-style green beans, and fresh salad. Thank you, Kitchimockas!
After lunch, Pennsylvania and Tennessee battled at Fort Crown Point for a spot in the semi-finals on Friday. New Hampshire faced off against Connecticut and New York battled Maryland. New Hampshire defeated Connecticut and Maryland defeated New York so then Maryland and New Hampshire faced off. Maryland was victorious over New Hampshire in the next battle and gained a spot in the semifinals with the winner of Pennsylvania versus Tennessee, which was Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania fought hard to gain a spot in the finals Friday, but Maryland emerged victorious and secured their spot against Rhode Island in the final battle on Friday! After their hard-fought battles, New York headed to the Gslide while Connecticut and Pennsylvania cooled down in the Tropical Pool. Maryland had a relaxing time on their Funyak Adventure, Tennessee headed to Tom’s Swimmin’ Hole with Delaware while New Hampshire headed to the Bermuda Triangle Pool with Massachusetts. Before Tom’s, Delaware started the afternoon with a dip in the Tropical Pool. Massachusetts’s afternoon began with them searching the lands on their Winnamocka Scavenger Hunt before joining New Hampshire at the pool. Carolina began with conquering the rock and bouldering walls before flying on Big Daddy’s Blob. Kentucky started the afternoon at Tom’s Swimmin’ Hole before heading to low ropes for cabin bonding and team building. Virginia began at Big Daddy’s Blob before heading to the trees for their Zipline Adventure. Rhode Island began in the sky on the Treetop Challenge before ending the day at low ropes for cabin bonding and team building! It was a rainy but super fun day!!
