Session 1 ~ Friday

Frontier Express

June 4, 2021

Thursday night ended with the Luau dance and party! Everyone was dressed to the nines in their best Hawaiian attire! Campers flooded into the Bermuda Triangle anticipating a great time and eagerly wondering who won the Color War competition. Before long, the Color War winners were announced! It was a heated event as points were awarded and everyone anxiously awaited the announcement of who won the water train relay for three points thus putting the winning team on top. This week, there was a tie for Wombat Wars! “We Are the Champions” rang loud and clear through the loud speakers, as everyone offered their congratulations to the BLUE Team! Way to go! It was such a great time!

Finally, the day is here! Campers and counselors awoke to a bright sunny day which was absolutely perfect weather for the all camp treasure hunt and WAR! Everyone headed to breakfast to build their energy. The Kitchimockas had the delicious homestyle favorite waiting as campers and counselors entered the Wilderness Lodge. We had scrambled eggs with a choice of sausage or bacon and biscuits topped with creamy gravy. After eating, everyone headed to Fort Crown Point for the finals of WAR.

Cam then explained the rules to war and the anticipated coin toss to determine who gets to defend Fort Crown Point began. There was a long road for the cabins left in the Golden Gun tournament, but Virginia fought long and hard and came out as champions of the Golden Gun Tournament.

Everyone then headed to the Lodge to eat some lasagna, green beans, and warm buttery roles. Counselors then lined campers up and separated them into treasure hunt teams. Once given the first clue, campers were off to find Blackbeard’s treasure. In order to win, each team had to use teamwork and map reading skills. They also had to avoid the counselor favorite one-minute penalties for those that showed less than perfect teamwork. The winning team included Hans Edwards, William Irby, William Smith, Cason Wheat, Jones McKelvey, and Logan Hopskind! Congrats boys!

After a light turkey croissant sandwich and mini hotdog dinner, the 007 announcement was made. The 007 winners and 006 winners had the opportunity to be recognized in front of the whole camp. The campers had a quick break to hang out in the courtyard and pack a bit before coming out for a pillowcase signing party and to watch a slide show of their awesome week together!
